Back in February of 2008, Dave McAllister and I took a trip to Laos and Thailand to climb on some rocks. Ascent has been published off and on since 1968 and aims to be an annual, feature-driven climbing journal. I’m both befuddled and honored to be a very small part of that tradition.

I can’t remember when I first played this game. Probably in the late 90′s in Potrero Chico when I was younger and regularly grew hair.

To play:

Drink for a while.

Make line on ground.

Keeping feet behind aforementioned line, use beer bottles to walk your body out beyond line as far as possible. Nothing can touch the ground other than the beer bottles and your behind-the-line feet.

Reach out and place one bottle as far as you can.

Use remaining beer bottle to return to starting position.

Achieve fame and fortune.

Drink for a while.

Tip: don’t break either of the bottles. I shudder to imagine the resultant mess.
